Second team sizzles in Volksrust slaughter

IT may have been wintery weather on Saturday afternoon, but Vryheid Rugby Club’s second team was on fire.

The seconds faced Volksrust in the first match of the afternoon, with the forwards dominating from the start and good, clean ball from the backs, resulting in eleven successful attacks at the try line.

At the final whistle, the visitors could not put more than three points on the board and were decimated by the hosts, 69 – 3 in favour of Vryheid.

Proud Coach, Edwill Meiring, is very happy with his squad’s performance, saying that things are “starting to gel together for the side” and that “if they carry on playing this way they will go very far in the league.”

Man of the Match for the forwards was Gavin Lloyd and for the backs, Thabani Mntungwa.
