The visitors managed to score an unconverted try within the first two minutes of the match, but were kept from the tryline for the remainder of the first half, with Vryheid owning the scoreboard.

Themba Phiri, Lwazi Mdluli, Danie Rudolph and Armand Holzhauzen breached the Volksrust defence, storming their try line for one try each in the first 40 minutes of the match, Scheepers converted three of the tries, as well as a successful penalty kick at the posts to put the hosts well in the lead before the second half commenced.

Fancy footwork from fast and fearless Carl Holzhauzen led to another try for the hosts towards the end of the second half, but Volksrust managed to make one more dash for the try line in the dying stages of the match.

Despite their best efforts, the visitors were unable to match up to the hosts and were left trailing at the final whistle, with Vryheid’s first team defeating them 55 – 17.
