UNITY Dance Studio had a successful Eisteddfod this year, competing at the Harrismith Eisteddfod 2017 on August 18.

We had 16 entries and despite it being freezing cold and some of us getting up as early as 4am in the morning to drive all the way, the children did very well and handled everything like champs!

Here are our results: Groups: Hip-Hop Group ‘Trumpets’ (Bianca Barnard, Jasmin van Rooyen, Chaydan Bekker, Lihle Zulu and Rebekka Barnard) received an A+ and a special award. Modern Group ‘Rule the World’ (Anja Muller, Niekie Muller, Madri Strauss and Rebekka Barnard) received an A+. Hip-Hop Group ‘Barbie’ (Giuliana Vyncke, Ivana Vyncke, Bianca Barnard, Denise van Wyk and Chané Swanepoel) girls received a B.

This was the first time for some of our little ones competing in the Eisteddfod this year and we are extremely proud of them!

A few words from one of our dance moms: “Unity Dance Studio, parents and dancers had the privilege to compete in the Harrismith Eisteddfod 2017. Our dancers really enjoyed being part of this opportunity. The results obtained are indicative of how well the dancers performed and they were able to bring back home numerous “special awards”. Thank you, Unity Dance Studio, for all your effort and trouble.”

Next up for Unity Dance Studio: Workshop: Belly dancing Workshop in Empangeni at Mystic Moon Bellydancing (8-10 September), Performances at: Pionier High School’s Matric Farewell (September 28), Oktobertanz 2017 at Michaelis (October 20), NG Basaar at the Waterwheel (October 21).

But it’s not all fun and games until the end of the year. We have our Internationally Accredited dance exams with the Asia Pacific Dance Association coming up soon! Hard work and dedication is what gets us all through such a busy year!
