Athletes brave the cold for Meatmasters Challenge

Cyclists at the start of the Meatmasters Challenge.

A VERY successful Meatmasters Challenge took place this past weekend at Bloemveld Dam in Vryheid and we want to thank the mountain biking and trail running community from Vryheid and surrounding towns that supported our event.

It was a cold day and the athletes were very brave to come and take part in the events. As always with these events, and especially our Vryheid events, the athletes were not disappointed and were spoiled with the most beautiful views that Vryheid has to offer.

We would like to sincerely thank the Bloemveld dam Boat Club who provided the eats and refreshments and the lovely venue. The dam just has a great atmosphere! Thank you to the main sponsor, Patrick Friend, Meatmasters, for your support and also the great work on the excellent routes. Thank you also to Daan and Marius for all the hard work on the layout and marking of the excellent, challenging and beautiful routes.

Thank you to all the VAC members who worked at the entries and finish and were marshals on the day. You are a great team.

Congratulations to the following people who took podiums: 50km MTB Ladies winner, Frances van Rensburg, and mens winner, Christiaan van Dyk (Dundee). Also to Laiken Pretorius, the 15km ladies winner. Full results will appear on facebook. Please like and see the ‘Meatmasters Mountain Challenge’ facebook page for event photos and results as we will be putting them up through the week, as well as the list of sponsors, who we thank for their excellent support.
