Vryheid Autolec will get you back on the road quickly and safely

Meet the Autolec team: Etiënne Hazell, Suzanne Aingworth, Johannes Brits and Lance de Haas.

VRYHEID Autolec has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception in 2014.

The past three years has seen the company progress from one auto-electrician carrying his tools around on the back of his bakkie, to a well-networked business that extends its services to Vryheid, Pongola, Newcastle, Melmoth and Piet Retief… A business that now boasts three qualified auto-electricians, an apprentice, a financial manager and a workshop assistant.

Owner of Vryheid Autolec, Johannes Brits, says that it is excellent workmanship, dedication and a commitment to technical expertise that has contributed to his success in business, but, when it comes to who motorists trust to get them back on the road, safely, there can be no substitute for experience… and Johannes has plenty of experience. He began his career as an auto-electrician in the 90’s as an apprentice with Reg Glutz, who owned Motolec. When Mr Glutz passed away, Johannes went on to work for Ants Diesel and decided to go into business for himself after Ants Diesel closed down in 2013.

However, Johannes’ motoring experience pre-dates his first job at Motolec and began while he was still at school, when he was already rebuilding motorbikes.

His passion for motoring saw him compete in oval track races in his memorable, souped up red and white VW Passat. Besides this recreational indulgence, Johannes’ love for cars also motivates him to make opportunities available to youth who are interested in pursuing a career as an auto-electrician. He is currently funding the education of an underprivileged child who will join Autolec as an apprentice auto-electrician as soon as he has completed his matric.

This month saw Autolec move into bigger and better premises at 307 South Street (the old Body Watchers gym). “We are excited about the move as the new premises is three times bigger, and we are in a more visible and accessible location. We are also happy that we are now able to lock the cars, that we are working on, inside the workshop at night as this is safer for our clients,” said financial manager, Suzanne Aingworth. “We hope future expansion of the business will create more job opportunities and we hope to open more branches of Autolec.”

Supporting local business and making a positive impact on the local economy, Autolec prides itself in sourcing as much of its stock locally as it can. “We always try to buy locally before we pick up the phone,” adds Suzanne.

“At Vryheid Autolec, it’s our dedication that differentiates us from other car repair shops. We’re continuously training our team of auto electricians to provide the highest levels of technical expertise for our customers. Vryheid Autolec believes in getting you back on the road as soon, and as safely, as possible,” concluded Johannes.
