Mr KZN 2017 is a Vryheider

Philani Romeo Zondo is this year's Mr KZN and he is already looking forward to greater achievements.

Philani Romeo Zondo took a setback in his life and turned it into a great success story.

Born and raised in Vryheid, this 25 year-old has been crowned Mr KZN 2017 and despite having not originally set out to become a model, the model lifestyle seems to have certainly chosen him.

After leaving Vryheid High School in 2011, Philani started studying IT at Damelin and Graphic Design at Pixel Craft simultaneously. Due to struggles in terms of financing his studies he decided to take part in the Mr Damelin modelling competition with the hopes that he would win the competition and bursary that was up for grabs.

After snatching the Mr Damelin prize, it became clear that Philani was definitely in the correct field as he went on to become the Face of KZN 2016 winner, Mr Pinetown 2016, Mr Assupol Ekasi 2017 as well as win the Mr KZN 2017 title.

Having made it this far, this young star said that he could attribute his success to the fact that he sets goals for himself and does not give up until those goals are met.

He is also highly grateful to his family and friends, who have shown him great support throughout.

Philani’s eyes are already on the next prize as he hopes to be the next Men’s Health Magazine cover guy.

The magazine is currently running an online competition where they are encouraging men from all around South Africa who think that they have what it takes to be their next cover guy to submit their entries.

In closing, Philani says he feels that the purpose of his life is to encourage and inspire people to realise their true potential and not limit their capabilities due to their upbringing or current situation.
