SPCA welcomes the season with a spring in their step

Adri Pretorius thanked everyone for their support.

SEPTEMBER 1 marked the first day of Spring and Vryheid SPCA pulled out all the stops to celebrate the occasion, hosting a magnificent and massively successful Spring Dance to bring in the changing of the season.

“Die DBV Lentedans Vrydagaand was inderdaar ‘n reuse sukses,” writes Adri Pretorius, who was at the head of the organisation of the event. “Graag wil ons elke persoon bedank wat ‘n kaartjie gekoop het en die aand saam ons geniet het. Was dit nie vir die publiek nie, sou die aand nie moontlik gewees het nie.”

Adri and the SPCA would like to thank all who contributed to the event in their own way, from the sponsors who donated ingredients for the evening’s dinner and dessert, to the individuals who donated to the event. Brian Grobler paid for the hiring of Vryheid Ski Boat Club, Sanet Beukes prepared the meals, Ruan Barnard organised the music and Thys Calitz did the spit braais for the evening.

The hostesses for the evening, Noelene van Wyk, Liz Hamilton, Belinda van Zyl, Magda Scott, Khalia Schmitting, Elana van den Heever and Cindy Mossop, did a phenomenal job of decorating their tables and the hall looked extraordinary. Magda Scott won the competition for best table and was awarded a weekend at Natal Spa for her efforts.

Vryheid SPCA’s Stephan Vickers expressed his gratitude to Adri Pretorius and her team, as well as the community who came out in their numbers to support the event.
