Mayor Sibiya steers Vryheid forward in his own wheels

AbaQulusi Mayor, Jerry Sibiya, refuses to waste money leasing a vehicle when he has his own car.

A RECENT conversation with AbaQulusi Mayor, Jerry Sibiya, revealed that our honourable Mayor certainly does have the best interests of the community at heart, not only in words, but in action too.

Research by the Vryheid Herald team unearthed that, while the mayor of Dundee splurged a whopping R700 000 on a new mayoral vehicle in February and the mayor of Newcastle is still utilising the mayoral vehicle purchased during the term of the previous mayor, our Jerry has returned the mayoral vehicle, the lease of which was allegedly costing AbaQulusi Municipality, ie: the ratepayers and residents, a whopping R18 000 per month, and has taken to using his own vehicle to carry out his duties as Mayor of AbaQulusi.

“AbaQulusi Municipality is already facing financial difficulties,” stated Mayor Sibiya last week. “Why should we waste that much money on leasing a vehicle when I have my own car?” he added with a smile.
