Community Centre holds first ever market day

Helping Hand held their first market day at the Vryheid Community Centre on Saturday.

LOCALS visited the Vryheid Community Centre at the corner of High and Heeren Street for their first ever Helping Hand Market Day.

The cold weather may have kept some at bay, but it didn’t put a damper on the spirits of those who attended the event, supporting the community centre and stallholders on a chilly Saturday morning.

Dirk Koekemoer was one of the stallholders who attended the market day, selling bottles of homemade chilli sauce made according to his own special recipe in order to raise funds for his son, DJ, who will be going on a rugby tour to Dubai in November.

From koeksisters to vetkoek and mince and even curry and rice, the market provided all the comfort food one might need on a cold grey day in Vryheid.

If you missed out on the first Helping Hand Market Day, be sure to keep an eye on the diary section of the Vryheid Herald for the next one.
