Special remembrance ceremony planned for Vryheid drowning victim at Klipfontein Dam

The funeral service for drowning victim, Dean van Wyk, will take place this Saturday at 11am at the Ruach Church in Utrecht Street (opposite Spur).

Dean passed away after disappearing in the Klipfontein Dam when his canoe capsized during a fishing trip on Saturday night.

His body was recovered late Sunday night by SAPS’ Search and Rescue divers.

After Saturday’s funeral service, friends and family will make their way to the Klipfontein Dam at 2pm for a special remembrance ceremony.

At the dam, family members will release a bouquet of flowers onto the water to honour the memory of a loving son, father and brother.

Thereafter, others who wish to pay their respects are invited to release a flower as a sign of love, respect and support for the grieving family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Van Wyk family in this difficult time.
