Autopsy report reveals Vryheid man who lost his life at Klipfontein Dam died from a heart attack

Dean van Wyk's cause of death is believed to be a heart attack and not drowning as initially suspected.

THE tragic death of Dean van Wyk at Klipfontein Dam last weekend has left a grief-stricken community in speculation and despair as they come to terms with the 27-year-old’s untimely passing.

The initial cause of death was understandably believed to be drowning after Dean’s canoe capsized in the dam last Friday evening and his body disappeared beneath the murky waters of Klipfontein Dam.

However, the post-mortem carried out on the Monday following the recovery of his body has allegedly revealed that the cause of Dean van Wyk’s death was most likely a heart attack.

Spokesman for the grieving Van Wyk family, Jakes Terblanche, reported that Dean’s brother, Alfonso, contacted him following the post-mortem and informed him that, according to the report, Dean’s cause of death had been ruled as a heart attack.
