The Luremasters, accompanied by family and friends, gathered for prizegiving, the election of a new committee and a celebratory braai afterward.
Speaking to coach Andre Ellis after the match, he said that, although a loss is always disappointing, he is proud of his team for never laying down. He also said that the season is still a long way from over and that we are going to continue our work and come back in the next game with a bang.
Despite having rained for almost the entire week, the weather cleared up on Saturday and made way for the runners to head on up that running trail.

Wicket Wasps played it safe to secure a draw, scoring 158/3 with unbeaten batsmen, Juan Booyens (67) and Ashley van den Heever (32) being the top run scorers.
In the dying moments of the match, Piet Retief managed to cross the tryline once more, but it was not enough to claim the title of NNRU second division champions.
The second team’s victory has secured them a spot in the finals, alongside the first team who will also advance to the finals after a cancellation from Volksrust last Saturday for the semi final.
“After winning against Piet Retief in the previous game by only two points, the Vryheid boys overpowered Piet Retief in all aspects of this game,” said Head Coach, Rich Verster.

Fancy footwork from fast and fearless Carl Holzhauzen led to another try for the hosts towards the end of the second half, but Volksrust managed to make one more dash for the try line in the dying stages of the match.
Proud Coach, Edwill Meiring, is very happy with his squad’s performance, saying that things are “starting to gel together for the side” and that “if they carry on playing this way they will go very far in the league.”
